Upon A
Presented at the Citadel + Compagnie’s Night Shift Festival
October 3, 2024
Once upon a time … three beings met. Then they played, they danced, and pretty soon they trusted. Didn’t they know trust is a fairy tale? Upon A, a new contemporary dance work uses text and movement to navigate intimacy, curiosity and guilt, through an abstracted tale of love and betrayal.

Upon A was my first experience in the dual role of choreographer and dancer, a challenging but rewarding task. With my incredible team, we developed a world which held these three creatures as they defined their own language, rules and curiosities. We asked what happens when we make mistakes that hurt one another, and how we can hold both guilt and blame while learning to trust again.
