Eilish 미정 Shin-Culhane (she/they) is a Dora-Award nominated movement artist, based in so-called Toronto. Holding a BFA from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, Eilish feels equal parts mover and maker. Since returning home to Toronto in 2020, Eilish has furthered their artistic curiosities through various commissions, residencies and performances.

As a mover, they are foundationally based and trained in Western Contemporary dance. Being a company dancer with Esie Mensah Creations and Nova Dance, Eilish has recently performed in works with Afrofusion and Bharatanatyam roots which has enriched her physical repertoire. Between New York, Montréal and Berlin, she has trained under Vim Vigor, Adam Barruch, Peter Chu, Johannes Wieland, Andrea Miller and Anouk Van Dijk. Eilish has had the privilege to perform in works by Nicole von Arx, Esie Mensah, Nova Bhattacharya, Frog in Hand, Angela Blumberg, Katherine Semchuk and Bill T. Jones. Eilish has toured across Canada with Nova Dance and internationally with Esie Mensah Creations. They have most recently performed in Esie Mensah’s 5-time Dora-Award nominated production, ZAYO. 

Recently, Eilish has been interested in creating work which is emotionally-driven, playing abstractly along themes of connection and care. Choreographically, Eilish has presented three notable works over the past four years. Commissioned by Peggy Baker Dance Projects, they presented Stop?!, an outdoor site-specific group work in 2022. In 2024 she presented a new trio Upon A at the Citadel + Compagnie’s Night Shift Festival. Most recently, in June 2026, DanceWorks presented Eilish’s work Peel Me, a 50-minute experimental work in their Sweet Ephemera double-bill. Eilish has made two works for post-secondary institutions, George Brown in 2023 and Dance Arts Institute in 2026. They have additionally participated in Toronto Dance Theatre’s Pilot Episodes Program, the Canada Opera Company’s Expanding the Canvas Program and TO Live x Nova Dance’s Discover Dance Series. Over their career, they have been supported by National Ballet’s Open Space Programme, the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. They center joy and catharsis through their collaborative process, prioritizing deep connections and a shared desire for continual growth. Eilish continues to be inquisitive in both her mover and maker selves, valuing community, play and curiosity.
